Reality of Faith (Iman) – A Beautiful Hadith

image

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “Everything has a reality. The reality of faith is that which has hit you couldn’t have missed you and that which has missed you couldn’t have hit you. No one can be a true slave of Allah unless he/she realizes the reality of faith.”

Some implications of this realization:

1) Letting bygones be bygones. If it didn’t happen then nothing could’ve made it happen.

2) Being positive and looking at the future. Dwelling on the past isn’t going to change it. Nothing I can do now will change it.

3) Not being down if opportunity is missed, nor overly excited if capitalized.
May Allah give us such incredible faith that leads to positive actions, ameen.

How Awesome is the Believer – Hadith Explained

The Prophet [S] said, “How awesome is the believer. Everything that happens to him/her is good for him/her. And this is only for the believer.

If something good happens to him, he is thankful and that’s good for him. If something bad happens to him, he is patient and that’s good for him.”

Authentically reported by Imam Bukhari and others.

The Shaver

The Shaver

The Prophet said, “Should I not inform you of something superior in rank to fasting, prayer and charity?”
The companions replied, “Of course, oh Messenger of Allah”.
The Prophet said, “The mending of ties between people is better in rank than fasting, prayer and charity, (as) the degeneration of the ties is the destroyer of the religion (literally, the shaver – not of the head, but of the deen)”.

[Reported by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi]

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم called breaking ties with fellow Muslims the shaver – الحاقة. It doesn’t shave the head, it literally shaves the religion of a person and leaves them with nothing.

A person who shaves the head has no hair left. The one who breaks ties with a fellow Muslim has no religion left! Think about it.

Going to Prayer = Going to Hajj?

The one who leaves his house – in a state of wudu – to the masjid for an obligatory prayer, his reward is like the one who performs Hajj.

– Prophet Muhammad, reported by Abu Dawood

Sins Falling Like Leaves

Bismillah.

This is a very beautiful hadith.

It is narrated by Anas [RA] that the Prophet of Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم passed by a tree whose leaves were dry. He hit the tree with his stick and the leaves of the tree scattered. He said,

Alhamdulillah, Subhan Allah, La ilaha il-lal-laahu, and Allahu Akbar – without a shadow of a doubt – drop from the sins of the slave of Allah like the leaves of this tree dropped”.

[Reported by Tirmidhi and graded acceptable by Al-Albani]

Vocabulary:

Alhamdulillah – All praises are for Allah.

Subhan Allah – Allah is far removed and above of any and every deficiency.

La ilaha il-lal-laahu – There is no deity/object worthy of worship except Allah.

Allahu Akbar – Allah is the greatest.

Lessons:

– Just like the hitting of the tree caused leaves to fall, utterance of the aforementioned words cause sins to fall.

– The Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم used a fabulous example to illustrate his point that was clear, vivid and easy to remember. This is the kind of examples we should also use to communicate our points clearly and effectively. Truly, he was the best of teachers
