Hadith Islam Prayer Salah Sunnah

Praying Fajr and Isha in Congregation

By the grace of Allah, I’m in Alexandria, Egypt studying Arabic. One of the things that I love about living in Egypt is that there is a masjid in every block, maybe more at times. Its a real blessing to be able to pray in jamat habitually, alhamdulillah, particularly the salat of Fajr and Isha. It makes a real difference to begin the day at the masjid and to end it at the masjid.

For motivation, here are some ahadith of the Prophet that show the importance of praying Fajr and Isha at the masjid:

`Uthman bin `Affan reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah saying: One who performs Isha’ prayer in congregation, is as if he has performed Salat for half of the night. And one who performs the Fajr prayer in congregation, is as if he has performed Salat the whole night.

Another narration mentions:

`Uthman bin Affan narrated that he had heard the Messenger of Allah saying: “He who attends Isha’ in congregation, is as if he has performed Salat for half of the night; and he who attends `Isha’ and Fajr prayers in congregation, is as if he has performed Salat for the whole night.

These ahadith tell us that the reward of praying Isha’ and Fajr prayers in congregation is so great that it equals the worship of the whole night.

Think about it: every day you can earn this massive reward just by praying at the masjid. Consistent good deeds like this are beloved to Allah, so let’s try our utmost to pray at least one of the two in the masjid. In particular, there is NO reason to miss Isha at the masjid.

WAllahu alam.

I miss Alex alot, that’s where i spend the majority of my time while im there. If you’re able to take a walk along the Cournaish (along the beach) after fajr, do so, i used to do that every day while there, amazing time to do so. 🙂

Alhamdulillah, this is the exact same thing my brother in Cairo says! It truly is a blessing. I like hearing the adhan when I speak to him on the phone, then he has to jet 🙂

InshaAllah I’ll tell him to visit Alexandria.

Salam, i’m from malaysia. hope me especially and all the muslims together we revive this sunnah in solat (with congregation)

SubhanAllah it must be a beautiful sight to see so many Muslims praying in congregation and so many Masajid

these ahadith encourage us to not only pray Fajr and Isha, but to pray in congregation to get maximum reward. Isn’t it amazing how such little deeds get us so much reward?

In fact, if all of the muslims all over the world, pray 5 times in congregation, we will see a new different world of peace, harmony and unity, because the blessings and help of Allah are for those who revive the sunnah.

Assalamo Alaykum,

May Allah accept your endeavours for travelling to great distances to learn Arabic for the Sake of Allah.
My Brother is also in Alexandria studying Arabic. He just got there in Feb ’09.
Jazakallah Khair for a good reminder, it was helpful.
Btw do I know you?
Remember in your Dua’as.

Assalamo Alaykum,

The only reasons why my family and myself are unable to attend Fajr & Isha prayers at our local masjid tends to be because our masjid is not within walking distance to our residence like it was in our former hometown so therefore I hope that we’re not really sinning when, for the most part,we’re unable to attend these prayers in our local masjid under these circumstances. Finally it could have been worse if none of us were or are practicing Muslims.

Is this applicable to women? Does it mean it’s better for women to go to the mosque to earn this reward?
