Hadith Hajj Islam

Can You Do Hajj?

Can you do Hajj this year? If yes, then do it this year and do not delay it. Keep the following in mind:

“Whoever possesses provision and conveyance for a journey to the House of Allah (in Makkah), but in spite of this, does not perform Hajj, then he may as well choose to die either a Jew or a Christian”

[Reported by At-Tirmidhi]

Here is a small questionnaire that might be beneficial in deciding whether or not you can go for Hajj this year:

  1. Do you have savings right now that will allow to make an initial deposit to a Hajj group so that you can be registered to go for Hajj?
  2. Do you have a source of income – job/parents/relatives/people in the community who can sponsor your Hajj – that will allow to pay the rest of the money to your Hajj group by a deadline?
  3. If you have a loan, then subtracting your monthly payments that you make to relieve your loan, can you still answer “Yes” to questions 1 and 2?
  4. Are you physically OK (without any major health issues)?

If you answer yes to all these questions, the time is now to Hajj. Please quit the excuses and make a sincere intention, in sha Allah.

Don’t forget the reward for an accepted Hajj is paradise. And don’t forget the consequences of not performing Hajj when you have the means. I mean, what if you don’t live to see another Hajj? There has to be this urgency to perform Hajj NOW, in sha Allah.

WAllahu alam.
