Revival and Correction of the Ummah

The last of this Ummah will not be corrected except by which the first of this Ummah was corrected by and that is the Book and the Sunnah.

[Imam Darul Hijra, Malik ibn Anas {r} d. 179]

Subhan Allah, many of the sahaba were extremely corrupt people in their pre-Islamic era. What transformed them into the best generation? It was the Book of Allah (Quran) – which they saw being revealed with their own eyes – and the way of the Prophet (SAWS) – which they clung on to so dearly to in the life and after the life of the Prophet (SAWS).

Thus the Quran and the Sunnah, and only the Quran and the Sunnah, can bring about the positive change in our life. How attached are we to the Quran and the Sunnah? Do our hearts tremble when we hear an ayah of Quran, or do we start questioning the ayah or the hadith? Do our minds go back to the Quran and Sunnah whenever we need advice or solace? Do we prefer the way of the chosen one (AlMustafa SAWS), over every other way?

May Allah gives us tawfeeq to live the Quran as the Prophet (SAWS) lived it, ameen.

What personally comes to my mind is thinking about the ‘Izza of the Ummah and there is indeed a need for the revival of the ‘Izza so that people will be proud to call themselves Muslim…
