A Jewel of Wisdom from a Jewel in Islam’s Crown

“The one who longs for Paradise will rush towards good deeds; the one who dreads Hell will put an end to his vices; the one who has firm conviction in [the imminent arrival of] death will lose all his passions; and the one who really knows the dunya will find disasters easy to bear.”

[Ali ibn Abi Talib, radi Allaho anho]

1. Do good deeds. Any and every good deed. Spread the Salaams, feed the poor, behave well towards relatives, and everyone else, pray the sunnah as much as you can. Advocate good causes, speak out for them, not against them.
2. Biggest vice = sins you commit over and over again. Ask Allah to protect you, give you the strength to stop the infinite loop of committing sin after sin after sin. Make constant tawbah and astaghfar, because AtTawwab constantly accepts tawbah, AlGhaffar constantly forgives the sins.
3. Remember that death is near. It can come at anytime. Shrug off the worldly desires and prepare for the departure.
4. Be patient in calamities. Each difficulty is an expiation of sins…only if one is patient.

May Allah make us of those who do good deeds, those who put an end to their vices, those who remember death and those who are patient in times of ease and difficulty.
